My Journey Back To Basics

It always amazes me how the universe has a way of kicking me in the pants to get my attention then handing me what I need. So here is how it happened.

My daughter was running in the Austin 10K and I went to watch and give her my support. By the time I found a parking place and walked to the finish line and back to the car I had walked the equivalent of 10K. Now I didn’t really have any idea how far 10k was but I found out later it’s about 6.2 miles.

I have always been proud of my ability to walk but my legs were very sore the next day. I thought maybe it’s just because I’m 60 now. I could use that as an excuse but that was all it really sounded like to me, an excuse.

I have also been under a lot of stress the last few weeks and started thinking about how to deal with the stress. Because I’m ADD and an ADHD Coach I started thinking of the things I would ask my clients to try in order to see what might work for them. That’s when it hit me, I was not using the basic tools of self-care that I have been trying to get my clients to adopt. There was a time when I did, well most of them most of the time. But I had let life get in the way and now I realized that I needed to get back to basics and do the very things that I have been advocating for anyone that is ADD or ADHD.

So on twitter I wrote:
It’s time for me to start living the change I ask of my clients. If I can’t do that I have no business being an Adult ADHD Coach.
Then a few minutes later I wrote:
I guess there is no going back, now that I have told the whole world. Maybe that’s why I did it.

But twitter is too short to say all the things I want to say as I make this journey back to the basics of ADHD Success. So my blog will serve that purpose.

Yes, it is true, I have been neglecting my blog. I made the excuse that no one was reading it anyway. Yesterday I got an email saying someone left a comment on my blog. It got my attention and reminded me that I was going to blog for me not to see how many people I could get to read it. So… watch this space.
