I have been asked if I avoid meds. I don’t avoid them but they are not my first choice. Because I’m an ADHD Coach I don’t give specific advice on meds but I have a point of view.
I like Dr. Amen’s approach Read the rest of this entry »

The first in this series of posts is on hyper-focus. Everyone seems to know that ADHDers have trouble focusing their attention for any length of time. The flip side of the coin though is that if we are really interested in an activity or subject we can hyper-focus. Normally we would be distracted by every little thing, now the house could burn to the ground and we would hardly notice.

I have been getting requests for more information about the ADHD Advantage so I’ll be doing a series of posts. Each post will deal with a particular ADHD Advantage, what it is, how to use it and how to keep it under control.

Some people believe ADHD isn’t a real disorder, and won’t change their minds about it. That’s okay, I’m not going to try. Unfortunately, these people tend to be very vocal with their opinions, which I believe are based on the lack of information! I don’t worry too much about them. By the way, I am a life coach, not a doctor, so please check these facts for yourself as I have done! Read the rest of this entry »

This post grew out of a conversation about famous people and ADHD so I Googled it and found a number of sites that listed people with ADHD. I have listed some of the names here just to give you a taste. My favorite list was on the ADHD Relief website. Now for the disclaimer, I have not used their products nor do I endorse them but I can say the list is one of the most comprehensive that I found. For the full list of names complete with links to biographies you can click on the link at the end of this list. Read the rest of this entry »

There is too much emphasis on the disadvantages of ADHD. I think it’s important to know that there are advantages as well. We are always learning new strategies to deal with the disadvantages but please, lets start learning to use the advantages. These two lists are not comprehensive. Read through and see which apply to you, see what I have left off the list. Read the rest of this entry »
